ETHNOS specialises in complex evaluations. Unlike other forms of social research, evaluations usually take place in complex political, organisational and social environments. In
addition to well-honed research skills, they require political dexterity, strong management skills, and flexibility and sensitivity, in order to maintain positive relations with all stakeholders over the lifetime of the evaluation.
Our evaluations are both formative and summative, and focus on processes as well as outcomes. They are underpinned by a rigorous and explicit "theory of change" which sets out the intended impacts and outcomes of the programme or policy being evaluated, as well
as the specific mechanisms through which these are expected to be achieved.
