Local communities often know best what is happening in their area and how local problems could be solved. Sound and timely community consultation and engagement are vital to ensure that citizens are not missing out or being negatively affected by programmes, that they can make informed decisions and have a say about what goes on around them, and that
they are empowered to bring about change. ETHNOS uses a range of techniques to consult
and work with diverse communities around major policy issues. We have also developed guidance on community engagement for other organisations and helped ethnic minority community and voluntary organisations build their own capacity to support consultation processes.
